(1978-2012)
The Conference Optimization of Electric and Electronic Equipments: OPTIM, Braşov has a 36-year tradition, its first edition having been held in 1978, under the title Optimizarea echipamentelor electrice şi electronice [Optimization of Electric and Electronic Equipments]. Its status was of national session and it was organized on the initiative of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering within the University of Braşov. Starting with the 4th edition (1994), it has become an international conference and the local organizers have been joined by the Faculties of Electrical Engineering within the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca and Polytechnic University of Timişoara.
The issues tackled by OPTIM conferences are varied, as topical scientific themes, innovative ideas, cutting-edge technologies and equipments, optimization methodologies, aswell as recent or future applications of electronics and electrotechnics are approached. The priority axes of the papers included in Proceedingsof the International Conference on Optimization of Electric and Electronic Equipments: OPTIM, issued at Transilvania University Press of Braşov, during 1978-2012, were focused on: power systems and electromagnetic systems, electrical machines, industrial units, power electronics, conversion, electrical power processing and storage, mechatronics, industrial automation and industrial control, applied electronics and complex automated systems, education in electrical engineering, emerging technologies, automation, robotics.
The first volume of proceedings (1978) included papers written in Romanian, whose abstract was drawn up in English, French or German; then, starting with the 1987edition, the papers have been published in English.
The event aroused the interest of numerous participants – researchers, teaching staff, experts – from Romania and over 25 countries worldwide (Austria, Belgium, Great Britain, Denmark, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Bulgaria, Poland, Serbia, Canada, Brazil, South Africa, China, Israel, Iran, Japan, Turkey and so forth).
In the spirit of OPTIM conferences, Proceedings of the International Conference on Optimization of Electric and Electronic Equipments, Braşov encourages the original and transdisciplinary approaches of the domain-specific topics, disseminates studies and researches of experts preoccupied both with classical aspects and with the modern perspective manifested in various branches of electrical engineering, and promotes withal the exchange of ideas and technical-scientific solutions.
