Admission information for EU citizens
Citizens of EU Member States, Member of the European Economic Area and of the Swiss Confederation may apply for admission to all cycles of university studies in the same conditions provided by law for Romanian citizens, after the recognition of their studies undertaken in the home countries.
Please note that the Romanian authorities may impose public health requirements applicable to international transportation, registration process and participation in academic activities, depending on the evolution of the epidemiological situation.
Recognition of Studies is made by the National Centre for Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas (CNRED), within the Ministry of Education (ME).

Submission of documents for the Recognition of Studies
Applicants for the Preparatory year/undergraduate/master's /doctoral degree studies, will send the documents as scanned copies, only in PDF format, to the e-mail address: international.office@unitbv.ro
Applicants must upload all the required documents and the copies must be clearly legible.
If any of the required documents is not uploaded, the application will NOT be processed.
The period for submitting the documents for recognition of the studies for application for Preparatory year/ undergraduate / master studies:
- 1st of April - 7th of June 2024 - for admission session in July 2024
- 1st of April - 26th of July 2024 - for admission session in September 2024

Doctoral programmes
Undergraduate Studies
1. Application form, fill it up online at: https://apps.unitbv.ro/inscrieri/public/index.php
2. Birth certificate and, if applicable, a certified translation into Romanian/English/French; in case of dual citizenship both certificates will be uploaded;
3. Passport valid for at least 6 months from the beginning of the studies; in case of dual citizenship both passports will be uploaded;
4. Identity card, attesting where the candidate is domiciled;
5. Marriage certificate and, if applicable, a certified translation in Romanian/English/French, for the married candidates (women). The registration is done with the surname from birth certificate;
6. Baccalaureate Diploma or equivalent, and, if applicable, a certified translation into Romanian/English/ French; or, as the case may be, the certificate (for the graduates of the current year) of passing the national examinations for graduation of high school;
If the candidate is enrolled in another faculty he/she will write this on the copy of the diploma and upload a certificate stating this situation;
7. Transcript of records from high school and, if applicable, a certified translation into Romanian/English/French the completed studies, in original;
8. Certificate of recognition of the Baccalaureate Diploma, issued by CNRED (National Centre for Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas);
9.Certificate of proficiency for Romanian/English/German language, as case. Those who don’t have one, will take an eliminatory test of language proficiency, evaluated as admitted / rejected.
The test is held according to the calendar established for each study program (information will be provided on the admission platform, when selecting a programme taught in other language than Romanian).
10. Medical certificate (in English/French/Romanian), including the following information about the candidate:
‐ any contagious diseases or other illnesses incompatible with his/her future profession;
‐ details of any history and current status of the applicant related to chronic diseases (if applicable);
‐ current mental condition, including any pathological history;
‐ any current medication.
11. One photo passport type, with a resolution of 300 x 300 dpi;

Transilvania University of Brașov offers study programmes taught in Romanian, English and German, so students must be proficient in the respective language.
Admission of international candidates to all cycles of university studies taught in a modern language (English or German) is conditioned by taking an eliminatory pass-fail language proficiency test.
The test is held according to the calendar established for each study programme (information will be provided on the admission platform, when selecting a programme taught in another language than Romanian).
The test is not required in the following cases:
- Candidates have an internationally recognized language certificate
- Candidates come from countries whose official language is the same as teaching language of study programmes
For study programmes taught in Romanian language, foreign candidates are required to submit for registration a certificate for Romanian language proficiency issued by institutions recognized by the Romanian Ministry of Education.
Are exempt from this requirement:
- Candidates who present Romanian documents of study
- Candidates who have documents of study attesting they followed a public school in Romania at least 4 consecutive years of study
- Candidates who have documents of study attesting at least 3 consecutive academic years followed in an accredited higher education institution in Romania.
Romanian ethnic candidates who have studied other languages than Romanian, will take a language proficiency test in Romanian. Testing will take place at the university’s Centre for Modern Languages (CILM). Address: Bd. Iuliu Maniu no. 41 A, 2nd floor.

Foreign applicants wishing to study in Romanian language have the opportunity to enroll for apreparatory yearfor learning Romanian language at Transilvania University of Brasov.
