The Evening of Saint Nicholas
6 December 2024, at 6:00 p.m., “Sergiu T. Chiriacescu” International Conference Centre
The evening of 6 December brings into the spotlight, for the audience everywhere, but especially of Brașov, an exceptional artistic event, which joins for the first time on stage the singer Monica Opra and the pianist Szőcs Botond. This unprecedented collaboration promises to be an experience with vast affective potential for artists and audiences alike, bringing together two musicians at distinct stages in their careers who engage in a sensitive and spontaneous artistic dialogue.
The evening’s programme will explore the dynamics of emotions through a foray into the music repertoire, from the masterpieces of established composers such as J.S. Bach, Fr. Händel, Fr. Chopin and Franz Schubert, to the lyricism and richness in significance of creations closer to contemporaneity under various musical genres, belonging to emblematic figures such as Frank Sinatra, Sylvie Vartan, Dalida, Edith Piaf and Maria Tănase.
Monica Opra and Szőcs Botond, along with Jazzpar Trio – Gáspár Álmos (guitar), Gáspár Csaba (violin) and Vitályos Lehel (double bass) – will propose an interaction between the classical piano universe and a modern selection, carefully composed from Monica Opra’s soloist repertoire. The concert’s foundation will be an emotional dialogue come to light from the two protagonists’stylistic and interpretative juxtapositions, offering a unique synthesis between the classical tradition and pop music elements. The programme will be complete with Romanian and international carols, in a spirit meant to evoke the festive atmosphere and the sensitivity of the celebrations specific to this time of the year.
