The sixth edition of the IDEEA project took place between February and June 2024, in an online system, and it consisted of design activities performed by teams of 10-12 members from 3 different continents. Overall, more than 170 students from 22 universities were involved in the project. Specifically, it was attended by students from universities in America (Mexico, Canada), Europe (Germany, Italy, Romania) and Asia (India, China, South Korea).

This year’s theme was proposed by the Volkswagen group, in the field of electric vehicle charging facilities, namely the one of inspiring customers to switch to e-mobility by designing innovative urban charging solutions for electric vehicles. Each team was supervised by two professors - mentors from the participating universities. All the activity, however, was organized, conducted and led by the students, with their mentors only having the role of ensuring communication support with the project staff.

The final presentation of the projects during this sixth edition takes place in Brașov, between 22 and 25 July 2024. Over 80 students and 25 professors from several countries on 3 continents participate in the IDEEA 2024 Forum hosted by Transilvania University of Brașov. 

The IDEEA project is dedicated to international student collaboration and aims to train young engineers and designers in the field of technologies relevant for mobility, product development and industry 4.0. IDEEA encourages students to experiment, solve and develop new methods and visions in design by promoting collaborative design and engineering in global teamwork. The project is not necessarily focused on the students’ ability to master knowledge of design, but especially on their ability to work and collaborate in mixed teams.
