Chamber Music Recital - ROMANIA UNIVERSALIS
18 July 2024, at 6:00 p.m.
The “ROMANIA UNIVERSALIS” concept is meant to mark the presence and importance of the Romanian contribution to the whole of European culture, by integrating a few of most valuable and well-known creations belonging to the Romanian composers within the context of the great music on the old continent.
Therefore, pages of great sensitivity signed by George Enescu, Ciprian Porumbescu, Alfonso Castaldi, Bela Bartok, Remus Georgescu or Walter Klepper are framed by music pieces belonging to the most illustrious names in the history of European and universal music: Ludwig van Beethoven, Pablo de Sarasate, Jules Massenet, Eugene Ysaye. Joining them aims to place the jewels of the Romanian musical culture into a whole of masterpieces of similar artistic level, making a particularly attractive music programme, impressive in terms of both virtuosity and refinement, which highlights the correspondence and indisputable balance of value between its components, and thus certifies the position and value of the Romanian culture within the European context.
The violinist Diana Jipa and the pianist Ștefan Doniga are the most active chamber music ensemble in the Romanian classical music of recent years. Since 2017, they have given more than 500 recitals and concerts in almost 30 countries on all six inhabited continents and in over 50 Romanian cities. However, the most important element of their career is that all these achievements featured Romanian music. In the year 2023 alone, the two musicians gave almost 70 concerts in 10 countries, on three continents and in 30 Romanian cities, produced 11 films broadcast by the Romanian Television Society, on the TVR Cultural and TVR 2 channels. Moreover, they obtained the most important award in Romanian music – the MUSICRIT Excellence Award for the ROMANIA UNIVERSALIS concept, and were the first Romanian musicians in history to go around the Earth in a single tour of recitals.
