UNITA WEEK at Transilvania University of Brașov

Between 17 and 21 June 2024, Transilvania University of Brașov is the host of UNITA WEEK, an event that brings together participants from the partner universities within the UNITA Alliance – Universitas Montium.
The UNITA Alliance includes 12 comprehensive higher education institutions located in mountain or border regions, where Romance languages (Romanian, Italian, French, Spanish and Portuguese) are spoken; and it reunites 250,000 students and 21,000 employees. UNITA is one of the 50 alliances selected by the European Commission to develop innovative models of governance and cooperation, which contributes to defining the concept of European University and to increasing the competitiveness of higher education. The consortium includes: the University of Beira Interior and the Polytechnic Institute of Guarda (Portugal), the University of Zaragoza and the Public University of Navarre (Spain), the University of Turin and the University of Brescia (Italy), the University of Pau et des Pays de L'Adour and the University of Savoie Mont Blanc (France), the West University of Timișoara and Transilvania University of Brașov (Romania). Moreover, two associated partners participate in all activities aimed at implementing the UNITA vision: Western Switzerland University of Applied Sciences (Switzerland) and Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University (Ukraine).
Within the event hosted by Transilvania University of Brașov, topics relevant to the UNITA Alliance members will be brought up and debated: the development of the UNITA community; personalized, multilingual and international learning paths for students; the strengthening of the digital campus, the enhancement of the research infrastructure; the promotion of international mobilities for students and academic teaching personnel; the stimulation of innovation; and the contribution to the development of local and regional communities. At the same time, the city of Brașov hosts the meeting of the UNITA Alliance’s Strategic Council, consisting of the rectors of the 12 partner universities, who will participate in work sessions dedicated to the management of the consortium, but also in visits across the academic of campus of Brașov.
The activities of the UNITA Alliance are financed through the Erasmus+ project - UNITA Universitas Montium, unfolding between 2023 and 2027, with an overall budget of 14.4 million euros, out of which the budget allocated to Transilvania University is 1.2 million euros.
