Exhibition_Paula Modersohn-Becker and the Worpswede Artists’ Colony
31 May - 12 July, Multicultural Centre, Transilvania University of Brașov
The exhibition brings together artworks of the German painter Paula Modersohn-Becker (1876-1907) and of the artists she collaborated with in the small town of Worpswede, a picturesque place in the north of Germany, near Bremen, characterized by a rough geography and an unfriendly climate.
The works of art on display reflect the close relationships within the Worpswede artists’ colony, which also featured Otto Modersohn, Fritz Mackensen, Hans am Ende, Fritz Overbeck and Heinrich Vogeler, and particularly illustrate a turning point in art history, marked by the quest for new forms of artistic expression. The event will open with a festive moment dedicated to celebrating 20 years of activity for the German Cultural Centre in the city of Brașov, and will include a musical sequence performed by the pianist Diana Ionescu and the violinist Vlad Maistorovici.
The exhibition Paula Modersohn-Becker and the Worpswede Artists' Colony will be open to visitors between 31 May and 12 July 2024, from Monday to Friday, between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
