Transplantation of Retinal Ganglion Cells: Guiding Donor Neurons to their Fate
18 August, at 5:00 p.m., Research and Development Institute
You are invited to the seminar “Transplantation of Retinal Ganglion Cells: Guiding Donor Neurons to their Fate", given by Dr. Petr Baranov, Assistant Professor, Department of Ophthalmology, Harvard Medical School, on 18 August, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., in the L8 building of the Research and Development Institute within Transilvania University of Brașov.
Dr. Baranov’s research activity is focused on improving retinal cell therapy that will allow stem cell-derived or reprogrammed neurons (RGCs) to continue their normal development after transplantation. This medical procedure, namely the transplantation of stem cell-derived retinal neurons, holds great promise for treating blindness caused by glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and other debilitating diseases.
