Philippe Thomarel | LXXVIII: Quand le ciel bas et lourd
1 - 30 October 2023
Between 1 and 30 October 2023, the Multicultural Centre within Transilvania University of Brașov presents the exhibition of the Guadalupe-born French artist Philippe Thomarel, the result of a one-month artistic residency at Transilvania University of Brașov.
The exhibition will be presented within this edition of the Blue Biennale visual arts festival and will be opened on 1 October, starting at 7:00 p.m., in the presence of the artist and of the curator, dr. Cristina Simion (Tiny Griffon Gallery, Nuremberg).
Its theme, expressed by means of a title taken from a poem by Charles Baudelaire, is, in the curator's description, “an allegory of the artistic vision developed by Philippe Thomarel in his most recent creative period, which inflects in a very limited chromatic palette - black, white, grey, sepia - what he calls « discontinuous chapters of a book», respectively his favourite threads: bridges and bridge ends, brutalist architectural elements, isolated fragments that illustrate the human imprint on nature as a slow progression towards the inexorable”.
The opening will take place on 1 October, starting at 7:00 p.m.
The exhibition can be visited every day from Monday to Friday, between 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The entrance is free.
