1 March 2023, at 6:00 p.m., “Sergiu T. Chiriacescu” International Conference Centre

The first musical event of 2023, held under the aegis of the Music Centre of Transilvania University, will take place on a day with a special significance for the academic community of Brașov. The Day of the University will be celebrated through the traditional Concert for the 1^st of March, which will feature the pianist Mihai Teacă and the Chamber Orchestra of Transilvania University, conducted by Traian Ichim.

Mihai Teacă is already known and appreciated at the national level, both by the audience at large and among the specialized music community. His precocious musical thinking and special talent allowed him to develop a multilateral artistic profile, beyond the predefined limits; therefore, he currently acts under different hypostases, enhanced by his personal colour specific to  artistic originality: pianist, tenor, and tarago player. The University Day Concert will capture him as a solo pianist, performing one of the most challenging music pieces in the far-reaching piano repertoire – Concerto for Piano and Orchestra no. 1 by Franz Liszt.

The Chamber Orchestra is the materialization of a unique project at the national level, as Transilvania University of Brașov is the only comprehensive university in the country with its own professional orchestral ensemble. Together with Prof. dr. Traian Ichim, a nationally and internationally renowned conductor, and holder of the Orchestra discipline within the Faculty of Music, the Chamber Orchestra has become a festive presence, eagerly awaited on the stage of the Conference Centre, as a benchmark of excellence and interpretive professionalism, which were proven in all previous programmes. In the next concert, Traian Ichim will guide the orchestra in the performance of Symphony no. 5 by Franz Schubert.

We invite you to take part in an exuberant concert, outlined by the youthful vitality of the virtuosity claimed by the proposed programme, on Wednesday, 1 March 2023, at “Sergiu T. Chiriacescu” International Conference Centre, starting at 6:00 p.m.

The entrance is free, within the limits of available seats.
