Exhibition Opening - “The Moon Glows the Same” | Roland Pangrati
30 April 2022
On Saturday, 30 April, starting at 18.00, the Multicultural Centre will host the opening of Roland Pangrati’s exhibition, entitled The Moon Glows the Same, which is curated by Dr. Cristina Simion. The exhibition is under the patronage of the Embassy of Japan in Romania and it is included in the series of events celebrating 100 years of diplomatic relations between Japan and Romania.
The project of the exhibition reflects the artist’s preoccupations for exploring the connection between people and nature, between bodies and Earth, as well as his research, influenced by the philosophy and art of the Far East, related to representations of nature, inviting the visitor to enter a multi-sensory and synesthetic world.
The title of the exhibition is inspired by a haiku of the Japanese poet Basho: "The Moon glows the same./ It is the drifting cloud forms/ (that) make it seem to change.‟
Pangrati’s both monumental and small-sized paintings are a clear, albeit symbolic image of the lifeless Earthsurviving any exploitation or change caused by man.The world he created is not an allegory of a planet on which man is absent, but the metaphor of the healing power of nature and of mankind's need to rethink their relationship with the Universe.
Pangrati’s artistic vision, developed and rounded over time, and for which he has received numerous awards and accolades, especially in the Far East (Japan, Korea), illustrates the allegory of a world free of the pressures and limitations inherent in a technology-driven society. His style, at the border between figurative and abstract, influenced by the Oriental integrative visions of the world and by their techniques, can also be seen as a bridge between two very different ways of life and societal values.
The paintings are made of acrylic, gold, silver and copper on paper, are mounted on laminated wood panels, the graphics are executed with natural mineral pigments and gofun on Japanese washi paper, on laminated wood panels.
During the opening, Roland Pangrati and the composer Eugen Dan Drăgoi will take the floor, the latter offering an artistic performance starting from the 7 musical themes that he composed especially for the works included in the ReSonance series.
The entrance is free. The exhibition is open until 27 May 2022.
