ROSE Projects

Today’s Pupils, Tomorrow’s Engineers in Materials Science and Engineering (EMASING)
  • Projects no: AG 340/SGU/PV/III
  • UNITBV Coordinator: Gabor Camelia;
  • Implementation Period: 2020-2022

The objective of the project is to create and strengthen the link between high schools, on the one hand, and Transilvania University of Brașov, on the other hand, with a view to attracting to tertiary education high school pupils with potential, but considered at risk (according to the risk situation as defined in the university grant handbook). In this regard, through the activities carried out within summer schools, the Project EMASING aims to increase the number of candidates admitted to the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering and indirectly to increase the pass rate after the first year of study. For this purpose, the activities, which will take the form of courses, practical workshops, visits to companies in the field, will help students understand the usefulness and importance of graduating from an engineering faculty; and the recreational and cultural activities will help them get acquainted with the city of Brașov and will facilitate the transition from rural to urban, where needed. A second effect of this project may be to increase the high school pupils’ motivation to pass the baccalaureate exam, without which access to tertiary education is impossible. The Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering is an option worth considering both by students with lower average grades in the baccalaureate exam and by exceptional students; and the field opens the possibility of filling workplaces in companies, or of developing a career in the academic environment or in research, given the need for the evolution of materials along with the development of technology. The agreements of collaboration with high schools will be the basis of a lasting collaboration between the two parties, which will continue to produce effects even after the completion of the project. During the three years of development, the project addresses a target group of 90 students who will attend the summer school courses held at Transilvania University of Brașov

Program de Suport Educațional pentru STUDENȚI: PSE-STUDENT
          • Projects no: ROSE/Acord de grant 373/SGU/SS
          • UNITBV Coordinator: Ana-Maria CAZAN
          • Implementation Period: 15.09.2020 – 14.09.2022

The main objective of this project is to prevent the university dropout of first year students (the undergraduate cycle) with high risk of dropout and to increase their level of academic adaptation by providing socio-educational services tailored to the specific needs of students from the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences. The target group consists of 140 students enrolled in the first year in the study programmes of the undergraduate cycle: Psychology, Pedagogy of Primary and Preschool Education, Special Psychopedagogy. The students from the target group benefit from the socio-educational services developed within the project: sessions and training courses for developing learning skills and socio-emotional skills, participation in mentoring and tutoring sessions, activities for developing professional skills, informative sessions, guidance and career counselling, etc. After the implementation of these activities, there will be changes such as the increase of the level of involvement in professional and academic activities, the optimization of the motivation level, the increase of academic performance and the graduation of the first year, the development of personal, learning, socio-emotional and communication skills, generating a better social and academic adjustment. The project team consists of teachers from the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences. The financial resources are those allocated by the project and the material / logistical ones are financed by the project (laptops, copy machines, video projectors, etc.) or provided by the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences (classrooms, laboratories, computers, etc.). Through the proposed activities, the project aims to develop an institutionalized framework and student-centred socio-educational services that lead to a good academic and socio-professional integration of students at high risk of dropping out.

ACADEMIC SUPPORT FOR QUALITY, COMPETITIVITY AND STUDENT EQUITY (SUCCES)
          • Projects no: ROSE/AG no. 64/2017
          • UNITBV Coordinator: BRĂTUCU Gabriel
          • Implementation Period: 30.11.2017-29.11.2021

With a total budget of 681,720 lei, the SUCCES project, financed by the Ministry of National Education through the Externally Funded Project Management Unit, is addressed to first year students of the IF bachelor cycle, who are exposed to the risk of abandoning the university, in order to help them graduating the first year of study. The project includes in the target group students of the first year IF who are coming from rural areas, who had the baccalaureate exam score below 7, who have families with special situations (orphans of a parent, single-parent families, children's foster care etc.), who had less than 50% attendance at courses and seminars or who had at least 2 failed exams in the first exam session. During the three years of implementation, the project aims to have a target group of 600 students. In the academic year 2017-2018, 204 students were included in the target group, 50 students benefited from professional counseling and career guidance, and 87 students benefited from personalized remedial programs, which involved discussions and training with teachers at the following disciplines: Microeconomics, Mathematics for Economists and the Basics of Computer Science. At the end of the year, two study trips were organized for visiting different companies: a 2 days trip in Sibiu and a 1 day trip in Bran. In the academic year 2018-2019, 230 students were included in the target group. From all of them, 50 students benefited from professional counseling and career guidance, and 113 students benefited from personalized remedial programs, which involved discussions and training with teachers at the following disciplines: Microeconomics, Mathematics for Economists and the Basics of Computer Science. At the end of the year, a study trip was organized for visiting companies from Poiana Brașov, Râșnov and Cristian. In the academic year 2019-2020, 235 students were included in the target group. From all of them, 50 students benefited from professional counseling and career guidance, and a significant number of students participated in personalized remedial programs. In January 2020, a 2-day study trip was organized for visiting companies from Bucharest.

Programs for the Personal Development and the Increase of Academic Performance in order to Keep Students from Quitting - ProDPM-STUDENT

          • UNITBV Coordinator JALIU Codruța Ileana
          • Implementation Period: 11.12.2017 – 30.09.2021

Reducing the dropout rate and increasing the number of high school graduates are priorities for the Faculty of Product Design and Environment. As a result, the general objective of the ProDPM-STUDENT project is the design and implementation of programs for increasing the academic performance and personal development in order to keep the students of the Faculty of Product Design and Environment from quitting. The activities organized within this project are considering the following: - increasing the professional performance of students (the graduation rate) through remedial programs aimed at covering the gaps with which they come from pre-university education and completing the subjects from the first year curriculum; the remedial programs are planned weekly, in packages of 2 hours each, in accordance with the students' timetable; - organizing counselling and personal development activities and streamlining guidance and tutoring programs, which will allow easier integration into the university environment, both socially and educationally, reducing the dropout rate and increasing performance and graduation; - organizing counselling and career guidance activities for understanding the labour market and correlating the student's skills and objectives with the fields of professional training; the students are visiting local and national companies and are filling in the student notebook for career guidance, which contains a collection of worksheets. The target group of the project for the entire implementation period is estimated at 530 students enrolled in the first year of the undergraduate programs coordinated by the faculty and which fall into the category of students with a high risk of dropping out school. The project team consists mainly of professors from the Faculty of Product Design and Environment and the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, but also training staff for remedial activities - university professors. The financial resources required for the project efficient development for the entire implementation period are of 681720 lei.
